Understanding Sediment Dynamics at a Shipwreck Site Using CFD Modelling

نویسندگان

چکیده

Shipwrecks are important cultural heritage sites offshore. In many instances, given their often long-term emplacement on the seafloor, they offer natural laboratories to study complex interactions between human-induced obstacles and seabed dynamics. Such induced sediment mobility also pose significant threats offshore engineering infrastructure, such as turbine monopile foundations. Traditional methods can struggle capture nuance of these processes, with real-world surveys measuring effects only after installation, laboratory models suffering from scale-down inaccuracies. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling offers an effective means investigating dynamics, by using shipwrecks proxies for it utilize datasets verify its predictions. this study, high-resolution temporal bathymetric data were used in, verify, CFD investigate hydro- at a shipwreck site in tidally dominated wreck site. Rainfall-runoff modelling using artificial neural networks (ANNs): modelling and understanding

In recent years, artificial neural networks (ANNs) have become one of the most promising tools in order to model complex hydrological processes such as the rainfall-runoff process. In many studies, ANNs have demonstrated superior results compared to alternative methods. ANNs are able to map underlying relationship between input and output data without prior understanding of the process under in...

Understanding bicycling in cities using system dynamics modelling

Background Increasing urban bicycling has established net benefits for human and environmental health. Questions remain about which policies are needed and in what order, to achieve an increase in cycling while avoiding negative consequences. Novel ways of considering cycling policy are needed, bringing together expertise across policy, community and research to develop a shared understanding o...

Mechanical System Modelling of Robot Dynamics Using a Mass/Pulley Model

The well-known electro-mechanical analogy that equates current, voltage, resistance, inductance and capacitance to force, velocity, damping, spring constant and mass has a shortcoming in that mass can only be used to simulate a capacitor which has one terminal connected to ground. A new model that was previously proposed by the authors that combines a mass with a pulley (MP) is shown to simulat...

Understanding TraÆc Dynamics at a Backbone POP

Spatial and temporal information about traÆc dynamics is central to the design of e ective traÆc engineering practices for IP backbones. In this paper we study backbone traÆc dynamics using data collected at a major POP on a tier-1 IP backbone. We develop a methodology that combines packet-level traces from access links in the POP and BGP routing information to build components of POP-to-POP tr...
